I took the opportunity to sing The Gower Wassail with a group of over enthusiastic folkies half cut on strong mulled cider and quite good we were too. Local children danced morris style and hung cider soaked bread on the branches of the apple trees, then with fires burning we were asked to sing to the oldest tree, and then drive out the evil spirits by making a din. After this a wassailing mug of mulled cider was passed around for us to share and the job was done. Quite a strange event but given a choice between this halloween or bonfire night i think i'm down with the Wassailing. Great walking back through the woods in the dark i couldn't see shit.
